SMS is celebrating it’s 15th Birthday amid phenomenal growth that looks unlikely to slow down at all. It may not have been “Watson, come here, I need you” but it looks likely to become just as profound a historical statement with Neil Papworth, then a young engineer, sending “Happy Christmas” to Vodafone Director Richard Jarvis.
Since that time more information has been crammed within 160 characters than ever before. With computers predicted to match the power of the human brain by 2013 and the human race by 2049 you may be forgiven for thinking that text and the need to read might be abandoned altogether. Instead a sub culture, not limited to any particular generation, prefers texting to Googling!
